“Nicholas Bervinchak: Coal Country Artist and Church Muralist” by Mike Buryk (details below).

Mike Buryk’s paternal grandparents emigrated to the U.S. in the period 1911-1913 from Sanok region of southeast Poland and eventually settled in the area of Minersville, Pa.
This is where the Lemko Ukrainian American social realist artist Nicholas Bervinchak lived and worked. Bervinchak (1903-1978) produced more than 180 etchings and paintings depicting life in the anthracite region of Pennsylvania from the late 1920’s until 1978. His work appears in numerous museums around the world.
Mike Buryk is a writer, speaker and researcher on the subject of Ukrainians in the U.S and the Ukrainian technology sector. He has been active in the Ukrainian American community for more than 50 years in the New York metropolitan area. He has been a regular freelance contributor to The Ukrainian Weekly. He also produces podcasts on various Ukrainian topics including culture, history, genealogy and technology.”
